Business Challenge :

Our client was a financial services client manages a very large trading platform. The Company’s operations were heavily reliant on a legacy on-premises data centre running a mix of outdated hardware and software, including an older version of Sybase Database. This infrastructure was struggling to keep up with the increasing demand, real-time analytics, and rapid increase of users.

Challenges they faced:

  • Scalability: The legacy infrastructure was unable to handle the fluctuating demands of peak streaming periods and new content releases, leading to performance bottlenecks and customer dissatisfaction.
  • Cost: Maintaining and upgrading the on-premises data centre was becoming increasingly expensive, with high costs associated with hardware, software licenses, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Agility: The Company’s ability to innovate and respond quickly to market trends was hindered by the limitations of the legacy infrastructure, which required significant planning and lead times for changes.

Solution :

Recognizing the need for a more flexible, scalable, and cost-effective solution, the company decided that only an Oracle Expert would help ensure a smooth transition. They selected RalanTech Consulting for this role. RalanTech’s team devised an IT strategy to migrate existing workloads to a cloud platform. The team knew that they needed to overcome several hurdles in the process. After careful evaluation, they chose Amazon Web Services (AWS) for its comprehensive suite of cloud services and global infrastructure. The biggest challenge is meet the uptime for the system while during the migration with minimum or no-downtime. So, the solution is setup a MSA replication from the current production to the new AWS servers. The database was kept in sync all the time. During cutover, the users were switched to AWS and the old server was kept as standby just in case if we have to rollback.

Benefits :

By migrating to the cloud, our client has now overcome the limitations of traditional on-premises infrastructure. The company now experiences several benefits like cost optimization, increased agility, enhanced reliability, improved performance, and data-driven decision making. These benefits has enabled the client to meet the demands of their customers, accelerate innovation, and achieve sustainable growth in the rapidly evolving media and entertainment landscape. With the new system, the personnel have time to focus on more strategic tasks.
